Blinds and shutters that clip into uPVC frames without drilling.
The frame clips into the rubber gasket between the glass and the uPVC bead. Nothing drilled, so no plugs in a window still under guarantee. It pushes in by hand and comes out the same way, which is why renters end up with these. Four clips hold it. You need 18mm of flat bead for them to bite, and slim beading often falls short, so Craig measures before quoting.
Because the whole thing sits on the sash, it travels with the window. Tilt-and-turn windows still tilt. Open a back door and nothing swings about and clouts the glass. The frame is cut round the handle so you keep your knuckle clearance. And the sill stays clear, which in a kitchen or a conservatory is usually the whole point.
Perfect Fit and Intu come as 25mm aluminium venetians or rollers, and in pleated or honeycomb fabric if you want the insulation. All cordless. Nothing hangs down for a child to get hold of. Shutter Lite is the same fixing with a shutter face, made in the UK, and it weighs a fraction of hardwood. That is the only reason it can hang off a gasket.
Wrong choice on timber and aluminium frames, and wrong on slim or curved beading. Same on tired uPVC where the gasket has gone hard and lost its grip. Plenty of the older stock round Culcheth still has its original timber windows, so Craig turns this job down fairly often. If the sill is empty and the window never opens, an ordinary roller does the same job for less. Light finds the corners too, so a bedroom you want properly dark wants something else.
